About Me
My name is Antoinette Gupta. I am an immigrant from Bangalore, India. I have been married for twenty-six years with a daughter. My family and I lived in England for seven years, where I obtained my Bachelor Degree in Psychology. In 1998, my family immigrated to the United States, and we have lived in here for twenty years.
I have a Masters of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University and I am specialized in Marriage and Family Therapy. My Masters thesis: "Relationship Advice In The Top Selling Women's Magazine, Cosmopolitan: A Content Analysis" has been published in the Journal of Couple and Relationship Therapy.
I recently obtained my Doctorate in Psychology from California Southern University in 2021. For my Doctoral Dissertation I investigated: "The Efficacy of EMDR versus TF-CBT in the Treatment of PTSD in Adult and Youth Populations." I plan to get this dissertation published sometime in the near future.
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice since 2010. I have experience working with culturally diverse clients from European, Latino, Asian, Asian Indian, Hispanic, African American, and Middle Eastern backgrounds. I have training in Trauma Therapy (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Couple and Family Therapy (EFCFT).
I have worked at "The Center for Community Justice Partnerships" in Colorado and I provided parent education and therapy for families with teenage children. Additionally, I have worked at inpatient drug rehab centers in California (Huntington Beach and Mission Viejo) providing group and individual therapy.
My approach to therapy is "eclectic" which incorporates a customized, client centered treatment plan that best fits you. I take into account the unique influence of family background, culture, religion, and social context when I address your concerns, to guide you in achieving your goals.
I have personally experienced several major life challenges and transitions. Therapy has made it possible for me to experience and recognize the innate resiliency and plasticity that we all possess. Therapy has helped me heal and grow stronger as a person. In our journey together, I strive to provide a supportive, non-judgmental, and confidential atmosphere for you to grow. I feel that therapy has been an invaluable gift in my life and I wish to share it with you. I believe that it can transform your life as well.
